Audit Scotland reveals taxpayers have been burdened with £27bn of private finance contracts

THE SNP has come under fire after it was revealed taxpayers have been burdened with tens of billions of pounds of private finance contracts.

A report by Audit Scotland outlined the costs of infrastructure projects today, with £27 billion of bills still to be paid.

The auditors said Scotland’s public sector will pay more than four times the capital value of £9bn for the schools, hospitals, roads and other assets currently under these contracts.
