BREAKING: 20,000 evacuated from Moscow city centre after 'bomb threats'

MOSCOW is on lockdown as "bomb threats" led to metro stations, shopping malls and railway stations being evacuated.

More than 20,000 people were evacuated following “almost simultaneous” phonecalls warning buildings had been rigged with explosives.

An emergency services source told news agency Tass: “Evacuation has been conducted at 30 facilities, with a total of 20,000 people taken outside. The figure is still being verified."

He added: "Each call is being checked. Emergency services are working. Police dogs will be used to track down the bombs."
