If Brexit was a movie it would be Shawshank Redemption in reverse

The Shawshank Redemption – that was Boris Johnson’s comparison for what Brexit has been like so far.

You’ll recall the plot of the film. Banker Andy Dufresne is wrongly imprisoned for a crime he did not commit.

He spends 20 years suffering hellish abuse and injustice in a grim, Victorian jail before he breaks out, crawling his way to freedom through a mile-long sewage pipe filled with the effluent of his fellow inmates.

He finally ends up walking happily on the beach...
