Indulgent grandparents pose health risk to kids, say Glasgow researchers

LEAVING children in the care of grandparents could turn them into overweight smokers as adults and increase their risk of developing cancer, a new study warns.

Researchers say doting grandparents overindulge youngsters with sweet treats and tolerate them watching television or playing video games instead of playing outdoors in the fresh air.

And the older generation still tend to light up, exposing children to second-hand fumes and making them more likely to pick up the habit as they get older.
