Labour slams SNP over mounting inequality

THE SNP government was accused of complacency yesterday over persistent health inequalities in Scotland.

Statistics published yesterday show that the poorest 10 per cent of Scots are four times more likely to die young than those in the richest 10 per cent.

The government’s own Long-term Monitoring of Health Inequalities report said that “significant health inequalities” exist in a variety of indicators.

Scots in deprived areas are also 52 per cent more likely to die...
