Margaret Thatcher could get a statue after all – but in her home town, not Parliament Square

A statue of Margaret Thatcher made for the Parliament Square could be erected in her home town after Westminster rejected it.

Officials in Lincolnshire are in talks to secure a place for the bronze sculpture of the UK’s first female prime minister.

The Public Memorials Appeal has offered the 10ft 5in statue to Grantham after failing to get permission for it to be put up in Parliament Square facing the Palace of Westminster.
