Met Office to spend £1.2 billion on new weather and climate 'super computer'

It's so advanced it will be used by the Government to inform climate change policy

The Met Office has revealed it will spend £1.2 billion on a state-of-the-art weather and climate super computer for the UK.

The latest technology will help improve severe weather and climate forecasting, in a week where both storms Dennis and Ciara have battered the South West.

The Met Office, which has its headquarters in Exeter, will use data from the supercomputer to inform Government...
