Morrisons wins case involving worker with a grudge who leaked other staff’s wages

Morrisons is not liable for a rogue employee who leaked the personal data of around 100,000 staff members, the UK’s highest court has ruled. 

The Supreme Court judged that the supermarket giant should not be held liable for the criminal act of an employee with a ‘grudge’ six years ago – overturning previous judgements.

The chain brought the challenge after rulings in lower courts gave the go-ahead for compensation claims by thousands of employees whose personal details...
