Princess Diana heartbreak: How Charles and Diana ‘nearly reconciled’ before tragedy struck

PRINCESS DIANA nearly reconciled with her estranged husband Prince Charles, but tragedy struck and threw a spanner in the works, according to former royal protection officer Ken Wharfe.

Mr Wharfe told the Daily Mail last year that Diana was always looking for an opportunity to patch things up with her husband. For example, she invited him to come on a skiing holiday with her and their sons William and Harry in 1992. Sadly, her father died while they were away so the moment for possible reconciliation was gone.

Mr Wharfe said: “I never expected Diana to let Charles encroach on her territory when she was skiing with the boys in Lech in 1992.
