State pension age will rise once more before it'll be the same for all retirees

STATE pension age has recently been increased for certain members of the population. Eventually, everyone will reach retirement age on their sixty sixth birthday regardless of their gender or when they were born.

State pension age has recently been changed. On July 6, anyone born between August 6 1954 and September 5 1954 saw their state pension age rise from 65 to 66.

The government has plans in place to incrementally increase state pension age until it is 66 for everyone.

Beyond this, there are plans to increase it to 68 in the coming years.

There is just one more increase planned before a blanket change will come into effect.
