Sturgeon under pressure: SNP leader told to defy Boris and hold shock ‘wildcat referendum’

NICOLA STURGEON'S Scottish National Party (SNP) has been urged to defy Boris Johnson and make plans for a wildcat referendum if the Prime Minister does not budge on his red lines by Easter.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon and her Government is under pressure to draft plans for a rogue referendum if Boris Johnson continues to block a Section 30 order, which transfers the power to hold a second vote from Westminster to Holyrood. Christopher McEleny, SNP councillor and group leader on Inverclyde Council, called for “alternative strategies” to be discussed if Boris Johnson fails to grant a section 30 order by Easter.
