The average Brummie has one of the lowest disposable incomes in UK - here's how much

The average person in Birmingham has just £14,000 a year available to them to spend, save or invest - one of the lowest figures in the whole country.

The average British person had a little less than £20,000 available in disposable income in 2016, new figures from the Office for National Statistics show.

The agency worked this out by taking income, such as from wages, investments and government benefits, and subtracting taxes due.
