Town celebrates becoming ‘plastic-free’ with huge plastic banner

A town has celebrated becoming ‘plastic-free’ by hanging up a huge plastic banner.

The 10ft sign, proudly promoting ‘Wales’ first plastic free market’ in Chepstow, Monmouthshire, has been described as ‘beyond irony’.

And Chepstow town councillor and former mayor Armand Watts wants it to be taken down just days after it was put up over the weekend.

He said: ‘This is beyond irony. The town council probably hadn’t even thought about the material.
