The final episode of The War of the Worlds airs on BBC One tonight. But did you know the alien Martians are quite different from HG Wells’ classic 19th-century novel?
In the Edwardian illustrations of The War of the Worlds, the Martian space ships are rather steampunk.
But according to Radio Times, the aliens land in a hollow “cylinder” before attacking Earth on tripods, which Wells describes as “boilers on stilts.”
