Wetherspoons has insisted children are welcome at its pubs after it emerged the chain has a guideline limiting parents to two alcoholic drinks each if they have youngsters with them.

The news came to light after the Robert Pocock pub in Gravesend, Kent, put up a poster stating the drink limit.
