A woman conned her family out of thousands of pounds by pretending she had bowel cancer and needed money for treatment, a court has heard.
Ellen Danagher, 48, told her sister and two of her brothers about her diagnosis and they immediately set about raising £21,000 to pay for ‘a new and innovative treatment’, St Albans Crown Court was told.
But it was all a lie.
