A SECTION of the A590 has closed both ways due to roadworks. 

From the Crookland Roundabout on the A65 to the M6, Junction 36, Kirkby Lonsdale the road is shut due while resurfacing works take place.

A FORMER police officer who was left disabled after being hit by a drink driver has been identified as the man who died in a sailing accident.

Stephen Hague, 57,  was pulled from Windermere after getting into difficulty during a session at Blackwell Sailing Club on Wednesday.

200,000 leaflets handed out in 20 months in scheme to give service users extra information

THE North West ambulance service (NWAS) has handed out almost 200,000 leaflets to people using its Patient Transport Service (PTS) across the last 20 months.
