Mexican feminists demand justice after murder of women's rights activist

ACTIVISTS in Mexico are demanding justice and an end to femicide, a week after the assassination of women’s rights activist Isabel Cabanillas de la Torre.

Ms Cabanillas disappeared a week ago, having left a bar to cycle to her home in the northern border city of Juarez. Her body was found later that day with bullet wounds to her chest.

She was a clothing designer, painter and active member of the feminist Daughters of Maquila Worker Mothers collective.
