The Samaritans has dropped its incoming chief executive after allegations of bullying at his former charity emerged.

Jeremy Hughes, who held the same position at the Alzheimer's Society for a decade, was due to replace Ruth Sutherland at the suicide prevention charity in May.

But a whistleblower claimed there was an excessive use of non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) at the Alzheimer's Society.

They also said it paid out an estimated £750,000 in recent years in an effort...
