Wisbech footballer is helping to beat kidney disease - the silent killer

A Fenland footballer, who has been given a new lease of life thanks to a life-saving transplant operation, is running a half marathon to raise funds into research for treatments of kidney disease, a silent killer.

Ben Baylis, 55, was down to just five per cent kidney function and had no idea he had become critically ill, when an annual health check showed he was in end-stage kidney failure.

Three million people in the UK have kidney disease, yet one million of these don’t know...
