Government finally agrees to pay £400,000,000 to remove cladding after Grenfell fire

The Government has finally agreed to pay around £400m for cladding to be replaced in tower blocks following the Grenfell fire.

Theresa May confirmed the dangerous materials would be removed during Prime Minister’s Questions earlier today.

She told MPs: ‘Councils and housing associations must remove dangerous cladding quickly but paying for these works must not undermine their ability to do important maintenance and repair work.’
